Something no matter what is is no matter how much you want it or how hard you try it is never quite there.  While this could be many different things to many people.  When considering the above concept I often think of love and or perfection or the seemingly impossible goals I have striven  for throughout my life.  All never quite there which is the primary overlaying thought behind what has become one of the most well known and appreciated works I have made so far.  It is emphasized by the two large hands coming from the bottom left to top right.   Reaching so hard, coming so close but not quite there.  This is reinforced by the gray scale figure in the bottom left reaching up desperately with all he has toward the huge godlike figure above him who could lift him without effort yet stares down without an expression on his face with an entire council below. Looking back at the figure below made of simple black and white and morphing above into the primary colors that fade into the white figure as in white light being all the colors, Mirrored by the black figure above as black is also a mix of all colors and so they become the yin and the yang as they connect to all the people around them of all colors. As much as we may forget, all the people are connected and if you look close enough there's always something bigger behind the scenes.  While the large flesh tone figure dominates the image seeming as the god of the painting.  If you look behind the people there is a large face of all colors facing him to directly on his left that is far larger in scale as are many of the great things we overlook.  Now following through the colors across the top down to the blue face of the artist, alone  looking out from the canvas.  Then down unto death (represented by the skull) and finally rebirth represented by the ecstatic figure in the very bottom right bursting out for a new life.
